Important: 8 Best Body Positions for Constipation And Bloating

The Body  Positions for Constipation and Bloating

Bloating or constipation got you down? A little maneuvering can sometimes help do the doo or relieve symptoms. I will share the best body positions for constipation and bloating.

Here are a few body positions to help you:

1. Lean Back.

When you’re hunched over and trying to go, you cramp your body’s style to naturally flow.

2. Ass to Grass.

Squat, drop your butt below hip level and hang out for a minute or two before trying again to go #2. This is the natural position humans were meant to “go.” Unfortunately our toilets of modern day act more like chairs we sit in—mimicking our sedentary lifestyles.

3. Feet Elevated.

A position that activates the same way the squat does. In fact the Squatty Potty was designed to help you do this exactly.

4.  10 Jumps or Burpees.

Jostle around for a minute or two to activate your colonic muscles a bit more.

5. Clockwise Massage.

Follow your intestinal tract around with your hands with firm pressure—as if squeezing a toothpaste tube from the bottom up. Start by your right hip, just above it, and knead up to right below your rib cage, then across to the left, and down towards the left hip. Breathe while doing this.

6. All Fours. Relieves gas.

Like a dog sticking it’s rump in the air, you can do the same here, as well as even take a few down dog and upward dog salutations. This is one of the easy body positions for constipation and bloating you could do.

7. Left Side Lying.

Facilitates lymphatic drainage (detoxification) and elimination—naturally.  Since the small intestine dumps waste through the ileocecal valve (ICV) on the right side of the body into the start of the large intestine, and then comes BACK around to the left side to the descending colon (where you poop), you encourage NATURAL elimination and gravity by sleeping on the left side.

In addition, since the stomach and pancreas are on the left side of your body, by sleeping on the left, you keep them in a much more natural position, and allow them to empty contents naturally.

8. Sit…And Breathe.

No iPhone or magazine in hands. Sit and allow your body (and brain) to relax.
